Cel Animation

A handful of random cel animation projects.

Walking Guy

This was originally a Flash animation I created in 2005. I always liked its vibrancy and simplicity. Unfortunately, Flash is a legacy format, and open-source/independent Flash media players are semi-functional as of the time of writing this. I decided I wanted to feature Walking Guy on this page, so I ‘remastered’ (re-animated) it in After Effects.

Tools:
Photoshop, After Effects

Animating on Nintendo DS

There was an indie flipbook animation program called Animanatee that could be installed on a rooted Nintendo DS. With its sturdy and responsive touch screen, this made the DS a surprisingly effective tool for casual animation.

Collaborations

Passing a DS animation project back and forth is a great way to keep creativity flowing at a county fair when business is slow in the caricature booth.
